Imagine you have just been born one hour after sunset. Already you can speak so you are puzzled when you hear the other creatures talk about the Sun.

日が沈んでから一時間後生まれたことを想像して下さい。　あなたがすでにことばを話せるから、他の生き物の太陽の話を聞くと頭を悩みます。

“Where is the Sun?”　「太陽はどこですか」

“The Sun is under our feet.”　「私達の下にあるぞう。」

“But I cannot feel its warmth.”　「しかしその熱を感じないよう。」

“It makes the plants grow.”　「植物を成長させるぞう。」

“But I cannot see them growing.”　「しかし大きくなること見えないよう。」

“You will see the Sun ten hours later.”　「十時間後太陽を見るでしょう。」

But that is like asking a seven-year-old child to wait ten years to drive a car.

でもそれは車を運転するまで十年間まつことを七歳の子に要求することと同じです。

“I want to see the Sun now!”　「只今見たいなあ。」

“You can see its light now.”　「その光はみえるぞう。」

“Where? All I see are the stars and the Moon shining in the sky.”　「どこ。空に星と月しか見えない。」

“The Moon is not shining its own light.”　「月は自分の光で輝いていない。」

“What do you mean?”　「どういうこと。」

“It is reflecting something else’s light.”　「別の者の光を反射している。」

“The Sun’s?”　「もうしかして太陽の。」

“Yes.”　「その通り。」

“I can see patterns on the surface…”　「面に模様がみえるね。。。」

 

“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”     2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)

「私たちはみな、顔のおおいを取りのけられて、鏡のように主の栄光を反映させながら、栄光から栄光へと、主と同じかたちに姿を変えられて行きます。これはまさに、御霊なる主の働きによるのです。」　第二コリント３章１８節

To the people who claim to have seen the “Sun” I say, “Please faithfully reflect His light so people can read His story.”

「太陽」を見たことがある人々にこれを言ます。　「他の人々がその話を読めるように、忠実にその光を反射して下さい。」

To the people who claim never to have seen the “Sun” I say, “Please patiently look at one of the brighter “Moons”. Can you see details you may have missed? His birth, his death, everything in between and beyond.”

「太陽」を見たことがない人々にこれを言ます。　月たちの間のよく輝いている一つを忍耐深くご覧下さい。　見逃した細かい模様が見えますか：その誕生、死、その間とその後のできごとも。
